* Permex have the first (and currently the only) mass
flow liquid filling system with Weights and Measures
approval in the UK and this machine's minimum design fill
is 18 litres. Other fill sizes are possible with approved
variations to this design.
In the 1980's Permex introduced their concept of
'flexible filling' by the litre using volumetric flow
meters allowing easy change over of container size and
efficient on-the-pallet container filling.
Permex have scored yet another ground-breaking first
by designing and building the first mass flow liquid
filling machine to be approved by the National Weights
and Measures Laboratory.
By using a mass-flow meter instead of a volumetric
flow meter, a direct measurement is obtained of the mass
of the liquid instead of just the volume. By interfacing
the high-discrimination pulsed output from the mass-flow
meter to the sophisticated batch controller of the new
Permex filling system, the batches will fall within a
narrow band - equivalent to an accuracy within ±0.5% on
containers of 18 litres or above.
Stringent interlocks are incorporated within the
control procedure to safeguard the accuracy of amount
dispensed.
The following graph is an extract from the tests
carried out by the NWML on the specially designed Permex
on-pallet MassFill machine, filling drums with liquid to
a target weight of 18 Kg.
