Moving Oilwatch to a new computer |
When Oilwatch was originally installed the details of such things as which reels are connected to which tank and which keypad controls which reel were entered by the installer or commissioning engineer. When installing Oilwatch on a new computer all that information will be required by the new installation. So the first step is to install Oilwatch either from your original disks or from the latest version available on this web site then copy the files listed below into the same locations on the new computer. Next test the new installation by running the Oilwatch program - this may give a warning message that Oilwatch has changed a system setting and needs to be restarted, don't worry this is normal and will not be seen again. Using the status button, check that all the original tanks are listed and have the correct amount of oil. The only remaining problem is which serial port should be used to connect to the system. If possible use the same port as the original computer used but if you need to change it make sure the new port is selected in the Oilwatch manager dialogue box.
All the basic hardware configuration is held in these four files: wow_set.dat wow_cfg.dat wow_tot.dat wow_aud.dat
All the transactions are held in these two files: oilwatch.db oilwatch.px
Any validation codes are held in these two files: validation.db validation.px
All these files can be found in the main Oilwatch folder which is C:\Oilwatch by default. If you are using the FAX messaging facility you will need all files found in C:\Oilwatch\Data (assuming a default installation location) |
